So it looks like I might have the opportunity to go to this year's Pebble Beach concourse in August. Tickets are $300 to get in, but I've got a place to stay for free. I mean, you don't go to the Super Bowl just to tailgate in the parking lot, right?
Has anyone ever been? Is anyone planning on going this year? Will 6 months be enough time for me to get my pretend-to-be-a-rich-person act down? What other events should I be sure to check out?

I went last year and it was truly amazing. That should be plenty of time to work on the act as well, but no such attitude is required from my experience. Other events to check out for sure are the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, there should be a race the weekend of Pebble. Also there are few local car shows to check out (will have to check on the specific names) but they are pretty easy to find. There will also be manufacturer events and auctions like RM at the Monterey Wharf throughout the weekend where you can get more info on the smaller events in the area. I found one last year and saw 5 Veyrons, an Enzo, F50, and Aventadors, 458s and 12Cs up the wazoo. Jay Leno was also at this event driving the new 918, Audi had a fleet of LeMans cars there as well.
Another good place to check out is the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, CA, the collection there is breathtaking.
Edit: The concours itself is an incredible event and it is worth every penny of that $300, just be prepared to be relavtively unamused at any and every future car show you attend. There is also a Running of the Bulls arranged by Lamborghini that is worth a visit.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'll definitely have to check into nearby museums, I didn't think of that.

GO GO GO! I went last year and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. My grandfather and I were both driving Mercedes' at the time and they gifted us VIP passes and access to their private box and Mercedes Tent.
I even got to see Jay interviewing a guy about one of his Duesenbergs. Bottom line GO MAN!
Here are some of the pics that survived my hard drive getting wiped.
Plz let me post.
Plzzzzzz???

Lemme jump on that "pretty old cars" bandwagon.
